Mary Agnes Beachell, formerly of Danville, PA. and Skillman, NJ. gracefully exited life on August 29, 2013 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, PA.
Mary was born to the late Thomas J. and Johanna Daly Craig in Pittsfield, MA. on August 28, 1918. She lived her young life in Scranton, PA with her family and five siblings; her surviving sister Margaret Platt currently resides in Lisbon, CT. While training at the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing she met Clarence R. Beachell. He charmed his way into her heart and they were married. Four sons and one daughter were born and lovingly cared for. She is survived by son Joseph R. Beachell of Cottonwood AZ: two sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Jean Beachell, William A. and Nancy Beachell of Montgomery Township, NJ; one daughter and son-in-law, Marybeth and Gary Barbato of Stewartsville, NJ; and one daughter-in-law LeeAnn Beachell of Mobile, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband C.R., her son Lt. Col. Leo Craig Beachell, and daughter-in-law Luise Beachell. Mary is also survived by nine grandchildren; Jennifer Beachell House, Kelly Beachell Gasner, Kristina Beachell Larson, Jill Beachell O’Neill, Ryan Beachell, Sean Beachell, James Barbato, Megan Barbato and Loryn Beachell; three great-grandchildren and seventeen nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren provided her with endless joy. When they yawned, she rocked them to sleep with her songs. When they cried, the “bucket” was there to catch their tears. When they questioned, she provided a helpful answer. When they performed, she had a seat in the audience. Her love was unconditional.
Mary raised her children and worked for many years at the Carrier Foundation in Belle Mead, NJ, retiring as the Asst. Director of Nursing. In retirement, Mary traveled the U.S. extensively with her husband. She was a member of “Happy Joe’s” of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Danville, PA. She taught needle point and cross stitch. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle aficionado.
